Mazda 3 MPS - Gene Rollinson Mitsubishi Evo 9 - Scott McKelvie
The NZPR 08/09 season got off to a flying start last weekend at Taupo Motorsport Park. In Saturday's first session, Napier's Scott Mckelvie qualified his Evo 9 on the front row of the grid. Race 1 was a hard-fought and close battle with the top three nose to tail for the duration. McKelvie finished in second place, less than a second behind the winning car. Sunday's wet conditions saw the Napier driver finish 4th in the reverse grid race after overtaking 26 cars and setting fastest race lap.
Race 3 saw the works Mazda 3 MPS Race car driven by Gene Rollinson romp home to an impressive 15-second victory in, again showing amazing race-winning pace to beat the 4-wheel drive machines.
The Mazda 3 MPS race car engine is built and mapped by WRC Developments and Ecutek . McKelvie's Evo 9 powertrain is engineered by WRC Developments and Exe-tc Competition Suspension.
